Health Issue

Gastroesophageal reflux disease, or GERD, is a digestive disorder that affects the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), the ring of muscle between the esophagus and stomach.

What Is Gastroesophageal Reflux?

Gastroesophageal refers to the stomach and esophagus. Reflux means to flow back or return. Therefore, gastroesophageal reflux is the return of the stomach's contents back up into the esophagus.

In normal digestion, the lower esophageal sphincter (LES) opens to allow food to pass into the stomach and closes to prevent food and acidic stomach juices from flowing back into the esophagus. Gastroesophageal reflux occurs when the LES is weak or relaxes inappropriately, allowing the stomach's contents to flow up into the esophagus.

The severity of GERD depends on LES dysfunction as well as the type and amount of fluid brought up from the stomach and the neutralizing effect of saliva.

Common symptoms:
Heartburn: a burning pain or discomfort that may move from your stomach to your abdomen or chest, or even up into your throat
Regurgitation: a sour or bitter-tasting acid backing up into your throat or mouth
Burping
Dysphagia -- a narrowing of your esophagus, which creates the sensation of food being stuck in your throat
Nausea
Weight loss for no known reason

Hindi ko alam kung gagaling pa ba ang may sakit na ganito. O baka prevention na lang.
Hindi pa naman malala pero nawa'y mawala siya. :)

Good day everyone! Ingats!

  1. manageable naman siya empi. You just have to adhere to the meds (if prescribed) and avoid or moderate the intake of food that triggers the reflux.

Tsaka wag kang papalipas ng gutom, wag din sobrang busog, yan kasi dahilan ko kaya nagkakaroon ako ng reflux, no. 1 talagang symptoms saken yang heartburn. good thing you do exercise and having a healthy lifestyle kaya malalagpasan mo din yan. ako diko maalala when ako huling inatake nito. God bless and get well soon!
